Overview
These COMP3204 Software Engineering Project units of study provide an
opportunity for you to share the load and responsibility in a teamwork
environment; to learn how to coordinate, cooperate, and to make contributions to
the final product; and to apply techniques in Software Engineering theory to the
project at hand.
Registration Procedure
- select a project (see Project Descriptions)
- form a group
- Every student has to be in one group. All projects are group projects and
the minimum size of the group is 5 unless specified by the supervisor. The
maximum size depends on the supervisor.
- choose a group coordinator and register your group
- The group coordinator needs to fill in a project application form 3204_form1
and hand in before 2 Aug 2002 Friday 3pm. Please keep the
comp3204 coordinator updated with the change in your group.
- The project will be assigned to each group according to their preferences
in 3204_form1 by the subject coordinator, please read the web on 5
August 2002 Monday to find out which project has been
assigned to your group.
- get a project confirmation form 3204_form2 ;
- fill the project confirmation form, get the supervisor's signature and
hand in before 9 Aug 2002 Friday 3pm; Note that an
assessor is required from this year. You need to get your supervisor to
nominate an assessor.

Project Descriptions
Assessments
The assessments are divided into 4 parts:
- Part 1 (week 3- week 12) - weekly meeting minutes
(marked by subject coordinator) 5%
- Part 2 (week 5) - Design specifications (marked by subject coordinator) 15%
- Part 3 (week 12) - Final Reports (marked by supervisor &
assessor) 70%
- Part 4 (week 13) - Demonstration and Poster (marked by
supervisor & assessor) 10%

Deadlines
- Part 1 (week 3 - week 12) -- Friday 5pm of each week (week 3 - week
12)
- Part 2 (week 5) - Design specification (due 30 Aug 2002,
Friday 3pm)
- Part 3 (week 12) - Final Reports (due 25 Oct 2002, Friday 3pm)
